The antelope of the wetlands
Red Lechwe are uniquely adapted to life around water. Their elongated hooves and powerful hindquarters allow them to move quickly through wet ground and shallow water.
A mature ram stands around 3½ feet at the shoulder and can weigh approximately 180–250 lbs.
Hunting the Lechwe
Lechwe hunting is very different from hunting dry-country antelope. The animals are often found in open floodplains and wetlands, where judging distance and terrain becomes part of the challenge.
A mature lechwe is a beautiful and distinctive trophy.
