The old grey ghost
Few African antelope command as much attention as the Greater Kudu. With its enormous spiral horns, distinctive white stripes and elegant appearance, the kudu is one of Namibia's most iconic trophies.
A mature bull stands approximately 4½–5 feet at the shoulder and can weigh more than 600 lbs. Exceptional bulls can carry horns exceeding 60 inches. Despite their size, kudu are remarkably elusive and can disappear almost magically into thick bush.
A truly old trophy bull is an animal of considerable age - 10 years or more - and these mature bulls are highly prized for their heavy horns and impressive character.
Hunting the Kudu
Kudu hunting is a game of patience, glassing and careful stalking. Bulls often stand motionless in cover, relying on their camouflage to remain undetected.
Finding an old bull and getting within range without being detected is one of the classic challenges of African hunting.
