The opportunist of the African bush
The Black-backed Jackal is a highly adaptable predator found across much of southern Africa. Its intelligence, speed and opportunistic nature allow it to thrive in an enormous range of habitats.
It stands approximately 1½ feet at the shoulder and weighs around 15–30 lbs.
Hunting the Jackal
Jackal hunting can be exciting and fast-paced. Calling is often used to bring these curious predators within range, but their cautious nature means they can disappear just as quickly as they arrive.
